Thoughts from Bryant Wright

“ For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ”
Philippians 2:9-11

Jesus. There is just something about that name. There is power in that name; a name that is uniquely above every name. Note in the scripture above that at the very NAME of Jesus the whole world will one day acknowledge Him. With but a Word from His mouth, Revelation 19 describes a victory over the world’s armies at Armageddon.

The name of Jesus is becoming more and more forbidden in the public marketplace. One may use Lord, or God, or Messiah, but the name of Jesus may be stricken from the conversation. You may have experienced this phenomenon around the water cooler at the office ... mention the word “Jesus” around unbelievers and the conversation may get uncomfortable. Some respond, “Don’t push your religion on me.” Yes, there is definitely something about that name.

But think about the name. There are names of God such as Yahweh, Abba, and Jehovah (with all its many descriptors) but the name of ‘Jesus’ in the Hebrew simply means “Savior.” Further, the word ‘name’ in the Greek means “character or authority.” So when we pray in “the name of Jesus,” we are praying in the character and authority of our Savior and Lord. It is commonplace for us to add that little tag line, “in Jesus’ name,” to the end of our prayer, but we should think about what we are saying. John 14:13 is a good basis for that practice in that by asking in His name, He will do it. We want to present the thoughts and the petitions of our heart aligned with the character and authority of Jesus. It is in His will, not ours, that we should pray. We come on His merits, in His character, not our own.

Right From The Heart Ministries seeks to unashamedly and boldly proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in the character and authority of His Name. And we do it overwhelmingly on secular radio, television, and the Internet. Now that is unique and is what makes this ministry special. Acts 4:12 reminds us “there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” John Hardon of the Free Republic said this:

Why is Jesus the one Who will save His people from their sins? Because He is God with us [Emmanuel]. God became man. That’s the reason for the Incarnation. The invisible God became a visible man. Talk about being with us. He could be seen, heard, touched and felt.

Oh, there is power in the name of Jesus. Believe it!
