How are you holding up?
Everyday we seem to get another negative report concerning the U.S. economy, and it's already affecting many of us. If we're not careful, we'll find ourselves chewing off our fingernails and starting sentences with the dreadful “What if”? The interesting thing about worry is that it does no good. It doesn't change anything. It only saps our energy and steals our sleep. It tricks us into believing that we have control over the situation.
We don't.
But there is good news. God does.
He spoke through the Apostle Paul saying, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ”1
And Jesus said, “Do not be anxious for your life, for what you will eat, what you will drink, or what you will wear. Consider the birds. Think about the flowers. Your Father watches over the birds, clothes the flowers, and cares more for you than He does for either birds or flowers. Why be anxious?”2
